#11 Football Falls To #25 St. John Fisher 34-10

Pittsford, N.Y. -- The 11th -ranked Bombers (3-1, 1-1 Empire 8) lost to #25 St. John Fisher 34-10 Saturday. The loss snapped Ithaca's conference-record 11-game Empire 8 winning streak.

The Bombers took a 10-0 lead into halftime, but the Cardinals exploded for 34 unanswered points to knock visiting Ithaca from the ranks of the unbeaten. Sophomore quarterback Dan Juvan (Dobbs Ferry/Dobbs Ferry) threw for 175 yards, completing 21 of a career-high 34 attempts. Senior fullback James Davis (Bridgewater/Somerville, N.J.) scored Ithaca’s touchdown – a one-yard run on his first carry of the season. On his second carry of the year, he picked up two yards on a fourth-and-one play. Senior Jamie Donovan (Sidwell Friends/Washington, D.C.) was Ithaca’s leading rusher, gaining 64 yards on 17 carries. Junior wide receiver Patrick Heenehan (Ramapo/Franklin Lakes, N.J.) and senior tight end Mike Oertel (Peru/Plattsburgh) caught four passes apiece.

Junior strong safety Ryan Terlecki (Pennsbury/Fairless Hills, Pa.) and sophomore linebacker Matt Scalice (North Tonawanda/North Tonawanda) led Ithaca with 12 tackles each. Scalice’s total was a career-high, as were his two tackles for loss. Senior linebacker Jim Chapman (Neshaminy/Langhorne, Pa.) made his first career start and finished with five tackles, his first career sack and a career-best four tackles for loss. Senior defensive end Dave Celeste (North Tonawanda/North Tonawanda) recorded three tackles for loss and junior linebacker Mike Nowak (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) added two. Terlecki forced a Golden Eagle fumble that freshman free safety Ronnie Bencosme (Sleepy Hollow/Sleepy Hollow) recovered.
 
Senior Brett Kitenplon (Admiral Farragut Academy/Seminole, Fla.) kicked a 22-yard field goal and added the extra point after Ithaca’s touchdown.

Ithaca travels to Brockport next week.
